Photo caption in "Report on Experiments with Kites" gives "Carrying a man lifter to launching position". Very large Extended wing War Kites at HMS Excellent. Reference is made to No.2 17 ft kites which refer to one of these and which was noted to be wider than the ship from which it was to be flown. Note triple leading edge bridles and fairlead post. Cody holding fairlead post.
