Designer and author, Pelham became a permanent fixture of the kite landscape with his publication of the Penguin Book of Kites, in 1976. The ambitious book offered readers a concise kite history, wonderful photographs of kites, and detailed kite plans. The book offered kite making techniques appropriate for contemporary or traditional kite making at a time when kiting reference material was scarce.
