Koreans call kites ‘Bangpae’ because traditional Korean kites resemble a shield.

The unique characteristics of a Bangpae are a three point bridle, a center hole, and an extremely fast winding line reel. The center hole in the kite acts to give stability to the kite quickly after fast maneuvers, and makes Korean kites ideal for use as fighters.
