Cody in wicker kite seat being lifted by very large Viva Extended Wing War Kite. Fairlead/control bar located along lower centre. Group of lifters same as in 474 above. Same as 189, 238. Image 238 probably reversed. Probably kite trials for the Admiralty on Woolwich Common. This photo appeared in The Car August 12 1903 with caption " The inventor at a height of 500 ft". Other images in The Car include tests with a large compound and the season appears to be summer.
