Commercial Nantong, China, Whistle kite, single line. Not a good flyer, are used as wall decoration. Made using silkscreened silk over a bamboo frame. Usually the whistles are gourds, but these are cut bamboo, lacquered. Five-point bridle. 1990 to 1992
Nantong is famous for the use of gourds on the surface of their handpainted kites. The gourds are cut with holes to create whistling sounds as the kite flies.
