Nantong Whistle kite from Nantong, China. This is an especially well done Nankong kite in poor condition. It has three stamped seals, which have handwritten notation or marks in each, the painting is very detailed, each of the six warriors rendered well and with care, and the procession of the warrior on horseback is fabulously appliqued in fabric. There are four rows of carved bamboo whistles at the top of the kite, row one has one, row two has three, row three has three, and row four has three. The last row are larger whistles. All rows of whistles are three in a stack. There are two very large, three-inch diameter gourd whistles at the bottom of the kite. Ten-point bridle, single line.
