School teacher and kitemaker Neil Thornburn is one of America's most interesting "hobbyist" kiters. Born in Canada and living most of his life in the Silicone Valley of San Jose, California, he is one of the most important kitemakers of the American kite movement. He authored three books, Super Kites I, II and III, as well as writing and documenting many design and production processes of kitemaking until his death in 2000.

This is the first of three memorable kitemaking books, and should not be missed by anyone interested in kites.
