An article on the heroic attempts of first flight for the British, Percy Pilcher died from fatal injuries following a flying accident on 30 September 1899. Pilcher began patenting small inventions in 1893, and at an early age, became interested in aviation. From kite to glider flights he pushed his interests to develop a full-size hang glider, "the Bat."
