Language: English Description: "When I sat down to begin writing, my intent was to produce an easy, step-by-step outline of how to make fabric kites for people who are not experts at the sewing machine. Some sewing experience is always helpful, of course. But the fact is, that up until the time I cranked out my first French Military Kite, the extent of my expertise with a needle and thread was replacing a few errant shirt buttons and hemming up my Levis.

So don't let your inexperience with a sewing machine scare you off or serve as an excuse to get someone else to do the 'work'. Anyone who can turn on a sewing machine and stitch in a straight line is accomplished enough to make these kites. Besides, all of these models can be made easily using paper or simple plastic bags (like garbage can liners) and a good adhesive tape.

What I have put together is a collection of seven kites and windsocks ranging from simple to fairly advanced. Initially, they appear to have little in common. They vary in design, complexity, and performance. Yet all seven share two characteristics: they all fly, and they are all fairly easy to make."
